Langas MCA Francis Muya has called on both the County and National government to install security lights in Langas Estate.
The MCA says lack of security lights in the estate has led to increased cases of insecurity.
"As Langas MCA, I am really disappointed with the increased cases of insecurity where people are robbed as early as 6:30 PM. This is because there are no streetlights," said Muya in Eldoret, Monday.
"More than 20 cases of people being robbed on the way and houses being broken into are reported on a daily basis recent one being one Langas resident who was beaten and killed by gangsters with a blunt object while on his way home at Kisumu," he added.
The MCA said if security lights are erected, cases of insecurity in the informal settlement will drop by 50 per cent.
He also called on police to increase patrols in Langas and Kisumu Ndogo estates where he said locals were suffering and have been forced to offer security for themselves.
Muya further asked the police to conduct a crackdown and root out individuals involved in the sale of illicit alcohol which has been rampant in the area.
