There are some things that happen once in a lifetime with far-reaching implications, like a man raising his hand against his father.
A 36-year-old man has lived a life full of regrets after he battered his father nine years ago.
Speaking to Radio Jambo’s Jacob Ghost Mulee on Monday morning during the popular Patanisho (Reconciliation) segment, Nicholas Okumu said that he attacked his father after clashing over land.
“It was about land. I am the firstborn in our family and I was requesting dad to share the land among his children but he was not willing to do so, which caused me to beat him. I do not know what came over me,” said Okumu.
After the incident that happened nine years ago, Okumu ran away from his rural home and has been living in Nairobi.
“I have been calling my father but he does not pick my calls. My mother also does not pick my calls,” he told Ghost Mulee.
Mulee later called Okumu’s father named Daniel. At first, the father was not willing to forgive his firstborn son.
“He really wronged me. In fact, I was planning to share out my land and I had struck him out of the list of beneficiaries,” said Daniel.
However, after Okumu apologised to him, the father advised him to go back home so that they can call elders and address the issue to its logical conclusion.
