As students from across the country resume studies in various public universities for a new semester, those at Moi University, in Kesses, Uasin Gishu county are having a hard time in finding a place to stay as they wait for the classes to begin.
The university issued a notice on Friday notifying the continuing students to seek alternative accommodation, unlike the previous years where it has been providing residential rooms in the university hostels.
According to Mark Onyiego, a third-year student at the university, the students were supposed to be back by Friday.
"Despite receiving notifications and messages from our various schools, the university's portal could not be accessed online,'" Onyiego stated.
Following the communication, several students were left stranded within the university premises without a place to spent the night as the hostels are already occupied by the first years who reported on Monday last week.
An attempt by the student leaders to get a response from the university administration bore no fruits as the hostel manager was not willing to respond to the concerns raised.
Some students have now been forced to go back home as they were not prepared to live outside the school hostels as it is comparatively expensive.
