This has been announced by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) in a tweet on Sunday.

In the tweet, KWS attributed the impassability of the roads to the heavy rains that have lashed the park, advising those habouring intentions of making a visit to ensure that they come with four wheel drive vehicles.

"This is to notify visitors to Nairobi N. Park that most roads in the park have been rendered impassable due to ongoing heavy rains. We recommend the use of 4×4s vehicles or visit the adjacent Nairobi Orphanage/Safari Walk. We apologise for any inconveniences caused, " the KWS tweet on Sunday read.

The park is popular with domestic and international tourists who come to admire the spectacle of wildlife against the breathtaking backdrop of skyscrapers while having a good time.

Located a few minutes drive from the Central Business District (CBD), it is home to black rhino, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffaloes, giraffes and diverse birdlife with over 400 species, according to the KWS.

Tourists paying a visit have to be charged to be allowed inside.

The roads inside are, by and large, not bitumen standard roads which makes them prone to significant weather events.
