Governors from the Nyanza region have been criticised over their planned forum to discuss the proposed constitutional amendments on Friday.
The governors from the six Nyanza counties will be converging in Kisii to discuss the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report, alongside other political, religious and youth leaders, before declaring their stand on the report.
However, political analyst and lawyer Ambrose Weda has faulted the move, accusing the county bosses of interfering in a push that does not concern them.
He said the governors should channel the funds being used in popularising the initiative to other urgent issues like improving health care provision in the counties.
"What the governors are doing is like laughing at people and dancing on the graves of the people under them, who cannot afford medical care and cannot get basic medicine," he said.
Weda made the remarks during an interview on KBC English Service's The Big Conversation on Wednesday.
According to him, the governors should let the referendum push be handled by President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto, and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
"Let the BBI be handled by the President, Raila and William Ruto and the others. These other people should focus on county affairs," added the former Sony Sugar board chair.
