Police on Wednesday arrested the estranged husband of Gilgil MP Martha Wangari, Peter Karanja over robbery with violence claims.
His arrest comes barely a day after he was charged with the murder of the slain Dutch billionaire Tob Cohen.
Karanja was arrested alongside his brother Joel Kuria and a friend, Peter Maina and charged at the Naivasha Law Courts. The trio appeared before Naivasha Senior Resident Magistrate Esther Mburu.
The trio was arrested after Karanja failed to show up in court on Tuesday to take a plea. Mburu issued a warrant of arrest thereafter.
The three suspects are reportedly said to have robbed two security guards manning the home of Gilgil MP Martha Wangare on November 9.
The guards, John Kamau and Eric Nyongesa reportedly lost their phones and cash to the three suspects during the stampede.
Through their lawyer, F.I Mburu, the suspects have denied the charges levelled against them. The two guards have also expressed willingness to drop the case against the trio.
The case was set for mention on November 25.
