The government will not tolerate athletes involved in doping, Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Ambassador Amina Mohammed has said.
Speaking at Gusii Stadium where she presided over the official closing of 2019 KECOSO Games, Amina said that the government will ban athletes who are involved in cases of doping from participating at international competition.
She affirmed that athletes who are yet to take doping tests will not be allow to take part in international competition until they do something over the matter.
He echoed the warning from Athletics Kenya (AK) on the increased cases of doping in the recent past.
Amina said that time has come for the athletes to rethink about the issue of doping so that they end it once and for all for the sake of regaining the country’s lost glory in the field of sports.
“We we must reclaim and retain our dignity and high esteem that we have enjoyed over the years in ethical sporting as well as a global leader in anti-doping,” Amina said, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
She also said that the government will also go for trainers, managers and coaches in the event in doping.
Several athletes from Kenya have been banned from participating in international competition after they were found in cases of substance use.
