The accident, according to Citizen Digital, occurred along the Kapsabet Road where his moving vehicle hit a cow on the road.

Mr Oraro was quickly rushed to hospital for treatment, the Kondele Ward Member of County Assembly told the press.

The accident comes amid controversy over Oraro's rise to the speakership which has been opposed by a section of MCAs.

It was not immediately clear what the extent of his injuries were.

He ascended to the position after Onyang'o Oloo, who was service as the speaker, was pressured to step aside over a multi-billion Lake Basin scandal in which he was adversely mentioned.

MCAs loyal to Onyang'o Oloo caused chaos in the assembly to oppose calls for Oloo to step aside.

This led to MCAs on both sides exchanging blows in the assembly.

Onyang'o Oloo has maintained his innocence, saying that he did not try to dishonestly benefit from the Lake Basin Mall project.

Mr Oloo was charged alongside former Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) Managing Director Peter Anguko Abuok and Bobasi Member of Parliament Innocent Obiri Momanyi.

They all denied the charges that had been pressed against them by the state and were released on cash bails.
