Speaking on Monday, the university professor stressed on the need for the top three politicians to join hands with the nation in their minds.

The three are President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.

He says that they should now consider what is good for that nation and follow that with regards to their politics and leave Kenya a better place.

"Some form of statesmanship is required from these three gentlemen - Ruto, Raila, and Uhuru. They ought to sit together, put the country first, and think about our children and grandchildren," he said on NTV's AM Live on Monday morning.

This comes amid an ongoing strained relationship between Raila and Ruto, who are considered possible competitors in the 2022 presidential race.

Uhuru who initially promised to back Ruto for the top race has been silent on his plans to keep his side of the bargain on the issue, despite pressure from some Ruto allies.

The nation also remains in suspense on Raila's plans, as he remains silent on his presidential plans for the race, after four futile bids previously.

Raila currently enjoys a good relationship with Uhuru after their 2018 truce, which Uhuru has however said has nothing to do with the 2022 race.
