A top analyst now says the Building Bridges Initiative report will not get full support from all Kenyans however much proponents try.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga are keen to ensure that the report gets full support from the entire country.
On Friday, Raila invited allies of Deputy President William Ruto to Mombasa forum, arguing that the process is now unstoppable.
“They have realised that they have been missing the opportunity to participate in the national conversation of uniting Kenyans. They have realised the meetings are not about 2022 or giving people positions but on the agenda of Kenyans,” Mr Odinga said.
The country is expected to go for a referendum although the team is yet to draft the questions that will be answered.
But Mohamed Wehliye, the advisor to Saudi Arabia Monetary Authority, says there will be opposing forces in the Building Bridges Initiative report referendum.
"There is no way all of us are going to support BBI 100%. Whether BBI 1, BBI 2 or BBI 3, there will definitely be a YES & a NO team at the end of the day. Winners vs Losers. Tusibebwe please," he said.
Uhuru and Raila are keen to minimise the opposition to the document to avoid polarising the country.
