Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has weighed in on reports that Kiambu Deputy Governor Dr James Nyoro, will today be inaugurated as new Kiambu Governor following Ferdinand Waititu's impeachment.
In a tweet on Thursday, accompanied by the text of the law governing the swearing in of county bosses, Murkomen said Dr Nyoro can only be sworn in after 10 days have elapsed.
"A High Court Judge cannot preside over swearing in of DG of Kiambu to be a Governor before 10 days are over and before they Gazette the date, time and place for conducting the swearing in ceremony. But you know what? Everything is working like a clock in the new Kenya," Murkomen said.
His intervention comes in the wake of Waititu's impeachment, over three counts relating to abuse of office and gross misconduct.
Waititu has moved to court in a bid to prevent Dr Nyoro from being inaugurated as new Kiambu Governor.
Nyoro is scheduled to be inaugurated today, as the new Kiambu county boss.
He had vowed to tender his resignation if Waititu gets acquitted by the courts.
