The leader of Majority in the National Assembly Aden Duale has differed with President Uhuru Kenyatta on the nomination of former Kenya Power MD Ben Chumo to the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
President Kenyatta nominated Chumo to chair the salaries body.
Chumo appeared before the Finance and National Planning parliamentary committee for vetting on Monday where integrity issues were raised.
Duale was categorical that Kenyatta’s appointee does not meet the cut.
"Whether Chumo appears before the committee or not, within the reading of the Constitution and the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act, he has failed and cannot be approved by the committee or the house," Duale said.
The former Kenya Power boss and other managers are facing charges relating to the supply of faulty transformers to the government entity.
