Flying squad detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested 15 people stealing fuel from fuel tanker at Industrial Area in Nairobi.

In a tweet on Wednesday evening, the DCI noted that the 15 were nabbed while in their illegal operation. 

"15 SUSPECTS of Siphoning Petroleum were today arrested at Industrial Area in NRB by @DCI_Kenya Flying Squad Detectives. Four Pumping Machines & Two Trucks ferrying approximately 14,000 Ltrs of Petrol also Seized in the afternoon Operation. Suspects in custody pending arraignment," wrote DCI.

The police noted that they received a tip-off on this matter which they acted swiftly. 

The 15 were found in possession of 4 four pumping machines, which they were using to siphon the fuel, and two trucks used for transporting the fuel to various locations. 

The police are yet to reveal the identities of the 15 suspects. 

This is not the first time the police are arrested people over illegal siphoning of fuel from the tanker. In June this year, two people were arrested over the same incidence, following a tip off from residents.

Stealing of government property is illegal and punishable by the law. The government has declared total war over any form of corruption and impunity.
