Just like washing your face and brushing your teeth, applying deodorant after a shower is also one of those daily routines that most people do every day without putting so much effort into it.

However, as much as some do it religiously every day, they still end up with sweaty, smelly and embarrassing underarm stains. This could be because of some deodorant mistakes they make even without knowing.

To make the most out of your favourite deodorant, here are 3 mistakes that you should avoid;

Applying it when your skin is wet

If you want to stay fresh all day every day, you should quit applying your deodorant/antiperspirant on wet skin. This is because antiperspirants are more effective when applied on dry skin.

Aluminium, which is the most active ingredient in a deodorant can't penetrate a wet skin, therefore putting it on when your skin is wet might be pointless.

Not knowing what to use, deodorant or antiperspirant.

Most people are clueless on the difference between a deodorant and an antiperspirant, and in the long run, end up using the wrong product, i.e using a deo instead of an antiperspirant or vice-versa.

Majority of us tend to assume these two products are the same but they aren't.

Antiperspirants are meant to reduce sweat while deodorants are designed to reduce the stink. So if your armpits are really sweaty, go for an antiperspirant, and if you want to eliminate body odour, go for a deodorant instead.

Applying it in the morning

If you have been applying your deo in the morning just after jumping out of the shower, you've been doing it all wrong. But don't fret, we're guilty too. According to research, it's advisable to apply it in the evening or at night as it's more effective. Applying it at night before bed gives it time to dry, rendering it more effective.
