The magistrate who was issuing out conditions for the bail application extended the prohibition to other accused who appeared in court alongside Sonko.

He insisted that the condition should be treated seriously adding that any violation of the condition may lead to the withdrawal of the bail.

"The accused are hereby prohibited from commenting on this case on social media, in whatsoever manner. And that should be taken seriously," Magistrate Ogoti ruled.

Governor Sonko, popular for making statements on social media, has since his dramatic arrest on Friday in Voi, issued several statements on his social media accounts.

The magistrate also barred the governor from accessing his office and his supporters from causing any form of demonstration that would interfere with the case.

The Magistrate Ogoti further directed the governor and other county officials to be escorted to the office to collect their belongings.

Sonko was later granted Sh15 million cash bail and released from custody.

Sonko is now the third governor after his counterparts from Kiambu County and Samburu County to suffer a similar fate.
