The Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) student Edwin Kibet is alleged to have fallen from a fourth-floor balcony which resulted to his death.

The 29-year-old third-year clinical medicine student was staying with his guardian, Rashid Kibet at Mwisho wa Lami area in Kisauni estate.

Kisauni police chief Julius Kiragu told the press that the student fell from the fourth-floor balcony but was trapped on the first floor.

He then sustained serious body injuries after the fall, where he started bleeding through his eyes and ears. He was rushed to Jocham hospital for possible treatment that could save his life only for him to be pronounced dead on arrival.

‘’We have been told that the deceased fell from the fourth floor and hanged at the first floor, the blood was oozing from the nose and his eyes,’’ said Kiragu as quoted by the Standard.

Another police source said that the student came back home at the wee hours, around 3 am, drunk and was staggering.

He then excused himself to make a phone call, that is when he went to the fourth-floor balcony.

The police boss said postmortem examination will be conducted as part of the investigation that has started, to determine the cause of his death.
