Renowned political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has come into the defence of ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru in the wake of social media criticism following controversial hiring of members of the board of directors of the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB).
Mucheru on Thursday reappointed Robert Kochalle to the board to serve for three more years despite his passing on in May 2018.
After heavy bashing by netizens, the CS revoked the appointment and replaced the deceased with his wife, Charity Kochalle.
The move made Mucheru become a trending topic on Friday as Kenyans took to social media to criticise and ridicule the CS.
However, Ngunyi said it was natural for human beings to make mistakes and the CS was not exceptional.
He slammed netizens for blowing Mucheru's error out of proportion and likened them to humans who exploited an alleged error in a certain version of the Holy Bible.
"The FIRST version of King James BIBLE had an INSPIRED error. The word "NOT" was omitted from the 7th COMMANDMENT. EARTHLINGS exploited the error to commit ADULTERY with glee. And the TWITTER REPUBLIC is just exploiting the HUMAN error by "Joe Mucheru" for self ENJOYMENT. Zero!" Ngunyi tweeted.
Among those who took a swipe at Mucheru is city lawyer Nelson Havi who mocked him saying; "Joe Mucheru is gifted, effective and efficient. He obtained letters of administration for the deceased Robert Kochalle in a record 1 day and appointed the deceased’s wife. Mucheru is the only hard and smart working Cabinet Secretary."
