On 12th December 2018, President Uhuru Kenyatta awarded 94 Kenyans Head of State Commendations, during the Jamhuri Day celebrations.
Sheila Memet, a renowned lawyer, was among 14 state counsels from the office of the Attorney General who was honoured for their contribution to the legal field.
According to a Facebook post from the office of the Attorney General, Sheila could not receive her award since she had traveled outside the country for further studies.
She jetted back in the country last month after graduating from the Geneva Center for Dispute Settlement in Switzerland.
"Ms Mammet was among 14 state counsel from the Office of the Attorney General and Department of Justice honoured by His Excellency the President during the 2018 Jamhuri Day celebrations for their contribution in the legal field," read the post in part.
She was presented with the award on October 15th, 2019 by Solicitor General Kennedy Ogeto.
During her study abroad, she focused on international commercial and investment arbitration, public international law and trade law.
The program is offered at the Graduate Institute of International and Development studies and the Geneva University law school.
Sheila, a qualified lawyer, was also involved in several ICC international commercial arbitrations concerning energy and natural resources.
She also has experience in legal due diligence, policy analysis, and commercial litigation.
