Thirdway Alliance Secretary General Frederick Okango now says that the party is willing to consult with President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga regarding their two constitutional amendment bids.
While Uhuru and Raila are pushing the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) initiative, Third-way is set to introduce its second Punguza Mizigo initiative, after the first one was rejected at the County Assemblies level.
While lauding the BBI as a good initiative, Okango on Wednesday said that his party is ready to consult with the BBI side, in a manner in that can see the two amendment bids joined into one before being taken to the people.
"All those leaders with their doubt should take it from me that the BBI report is good. If the president and his brother Raila Odinga want Punguza Mizigo we are ready to consult with them (Wale vingozi wore wenye tashwishi kuhusu BBI kwamba nimeisoma na ni jambo nzuri. Kama rais Uhuru na ndugu yake Raila wanataka Punguza Mizigo tuko tayari kukaa kwenye meza)," he said.
He spoke on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Wednesday night.
Okango noted that BBI has shown interest in Punguza Mizigo's and has even included some of its proposals in its report, including the clause about additional funds for the counties and capping money used on expenditure at 30%.
"Some of the things we were proposing have been included in the BBI, they have adopted some of our proposals (Kuna vitu tulitaka kama Punguza Mizigo ambazo ziko pale kwa BBI, kunazo mapendekezo zetu ambazo walizichukua)," he added.
