You may be forcing them with some foods only to realize later she/he has lost the appetite.

A child may stop eating very well due to various reasons. If they are not craving for more foods like before, you need to know and understand that they don't have an appetite.

There are varied factors that cause this condition as highlighted by Alana Biggers, M.D., MPH, an internal medicine physician.

Some signs could help you identify loss of appetite in them.

Check for signs like vomiting frequently, drooling and coughing.

Here are some of the causes of the sudden loss of appetite in children;

1. Growth

Babies tend to grow at a rapid rate for the first six months. Growth may stop from 6 to 12 months and during this period they don't need to eat much because of low metabolism. They no longer need more calories like before.

 2. Sore throats

This could also be the reason why he/she keeps rejecting some foods. The baby may experience difficulties when swallowing food. A sore throat may be accompanied by fever and swollen glands. The best option is to make an appointment of seeing a doctor for advice.

 3. Type of foods

When they are not showing any interest in some foods, it could be that their tummy is full. Certain foods take longer to be digested especially in a child. Whole grain is foods that cause appetite loss in babies due to their fibre contents.

4. Introducing to solid foods

Some solids are hard to digest which mean, your child may eat less or may refuse not to eat them. This will take some time to adopt.
