Former Kabuchai constituency ODM chairperson the late Helen Lukhahe was on Saturday laid to rest in Bungoma County.

Lukhahe passed away a week ago after succumbing to a short illness at a Bungoma hospital.

She was on Sunday laid to rest at her home in Kimalewa Village, Kulwa Location, Kabuchai constituency. 

Her burial was attended by ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale, and former Kibra parliamentary hopeful in the recently concluded by-election Benson Musungu.

"Joined hundreds of mourners at the burial of Mama Chungwa, Hellen Nanjala Lukhahe, who until her death was the ODM Chairlady Kabuchai Branch in Bungoma County. The ceremony was held at her home in Kimalewa Village, Kuywa Location, Mukuyuni Ward in Kabuchai Constituency of Bungoma County. My colleague Benson Musungu was also present. May her soul RIP," Etale posted on Facebook.

In an earlier tweet, ODM mourned the departed as a strong party member who pushed for the party ideologies in the grassroots.

"We regret to announce the passing on of Madam Hellen Lukhale, our Chairlady for Kabuchai Constituency after a short illness. Hellen was a strong member of the movement who championed the party ideology at the grassroots. We stand with her family at this difficult time of grief," ODM said.
