Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has said that his woes are politically instigated.
Speaking on Sunday at Victor’s Assembly Church in Kikuyu, Waititu insisted that he is innocent.
He alleged that he is being sought by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and EACC because of his political stance as far as 2022 is concerned.
He claimed that his support for the Deputy President William Ruto has seen him haunted over the alleged loss of funds in the Sh588 million irregular tender.
"This case brought against me is full of politics," said the Kiambu Governor adding that "They had to silence me…. But I want to announce that I have agreed to remain silent. Right now I am not politicking anymore."
Waititu, who was released on Sh15 million cash bail, said that he will continue executing his duties as the county boss. He affirmed that the power is vested in him and not the office.
The governor said that he has the freedom to meet anyone in the county as he wishes. He further said that he will continue to serve his people without any form of fear or favour as long as he remains the governor.
"I’m now focusing on development issues so that we can fulfil the pledges we made to the people of Kiambu,” said Waititu.
He also said that he looks up to go for protection during this moment of trial.
