Baringo Senator Gideon Moi's KANU party has received a major boost after former Cabinet Minister Musa Sirma officially rejoined it.
In a meeting at Moi’s Alphega home in Mogotio constituency on Sunday, Sirma declared that he is ready to walk with the son of former President Daniel Arap Moi as he seeks to enter national politics.
"I have accepted to work and assure you we will walk together. Someone should not tell us Gideon is a son to a dynasty. It’s better to have a dynasty than a corrupt individual," he said.
The veteran politician was rewarded with the post of Eldama Ravine sub-county KANU branch chairman immediately after he made the announcement.
Accompanied by hundreds of his supporters and elders from his backyard, Sirma said the time has come for the community to rethink about the nation’s top seat.
He further noted that he regrets denouncing KANU and apologised to the entire Kalenjin community.
"I regret that pronouncement and apologise to the Kalenjin community for the declaration. I did not know that I was supporting a leader who could be against me with time," Sirma said, as quoted by Standard.
Speaking after receiving Sirma, KANU Chairman Gideon Moi, noted that he was happy to welcome back the former minister to the party.
