Private detective Jane Mugo has been denied state protection after she claimed that her life is being threatened by some police officers.
Mugo last month requested the court for protection, accusing investigating officers in some of the cases she was following up on threatening her life.
Her lawyers Danstan Omari and Brian Khaemba told the court that she feared for her life after the police seized her gun, adding that she has been receiving death threats since 2014.
However, Magistrate Martha Mutuku on Tuesday rejected the request, stating that Mugo never specified to the court how she wants to be protected.
"Mugo in her application did not state or explain to the court how she wanted to be protected," she said.
Her lawyers, while filing the application last month, argued that her clients have been given state protection, and there is a need for her to be allocated the same as well.
"Our client’s life is in danger as she is afraid of the investigators in the case by the way they are treating her. We urge the court's protection as we intend to reveal the context of the threats," said Omari.
But the prosecution rejected the claims of the woman also accused of threatening to kill two people, urging the court to detain her in prison as a security precaution.
