Renowned journalist and socio-political commentator Francis Gachuri has weighed in on the ongoing Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) debate.
Speaking on Thursday during Sema na Citizen show, Gachuri held the view that President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga already know what is in the BBI report.
He said given that the members of the committee were chosen by the two leaders, it was plausible that they had already been filled in on the contents of the report, before it is handed over to them officially in the coming days.
"The two know what is in the report... I want to believe that they are well-briefed because those who were chosen to be part of the committee were chosen by the two leaders. (Wawili hao wanajua kilichomo kwenye ripoti hii... Nataka kuamini kwamba wako well-briefed kwa sababu wale ambao walioteuliwa kuingia katika jopo hili waliwateua hao wenyewe)," Francis Gachuri said.
The BBI report has been subject to a raging public debate that has divided Kenyans.
There are those who hold the view that BBI is an attempt by Raila and Uhuru to saddle the Kenyan taxpayer with a bloated executive.
Others contend that it will help reduce the political tension that has marred the country after the last three general elections.
