Student Organization of Maseno University (SOMU) has called for the assistance of Director of Criminal Investigations(DCI) George Kinoti in curbing persistent insecurity issues around the institution.
In an interview with Hivisasa on Saturday, SOMU Secretary-General Edwin Nyangwara said they fear for more attacks.
Nyangwara said one of the students was attacked on Friday night around Runda hostels by unknown culprits leaving him with injuries.
He said this is not the first time such an incident happened.
"Sure, we've had such attacks before and usually students blame the neighbouring community, am not comfortable with the assumption. I think some of our students are part of the ordeals and security setbacks." noted the student leader.
He said his team has conducted security sensitization and that the issue is too sensitive. He pleaded with DCI to intervene.
"Police officers attached here are doing their level best but I feel the matter calls for DCI detectives to be deployed here for intensive investigations. Some of the attackers might be our fellow students. We are not ready for an insecure environment," Nyangwara said.
