Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has secured multi-billion deals after hosting international donors at his office.
Mutua who spoke after the meeting on Wednesday revealed that the region was set to benefit from multi-million investment deals following an agreement with donors from the international community.
The governor who also doubles up as Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader said that the donors have expressed their desires to assist his government to fulfil his promises to the people through funding.
The donors are expected to pump close to Sh.50 billion into various projects.
Mutua, who held a round table meeting with the donors, thanked them for the support they have continued to accord his administration as he seeks to leave behind a legacy before he ends his second and final term in government as per the current constitution.
“I am very pleased with the large turnout and the fruitful discussions. We highlighted our development agenda, our many successes and the massive remaining gaps which require funding so as to fully achieve our program of poverty eradication and economic growth in all sectors,” he said, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
The governor also said that the donors have pledged to assist him to handle the water shortage problem in the county.
He revealed plans to sink more boreholes and construction of water tanks in different parts of the county to counter the shortage of water.
The meeting was also attended by representatives from World Vision, World Bank and AMREF.
