The Kenyan media has given the divorce proceedings wide coverage.

In a tweet on Wednesday,  Havi contended that there were more important issues that the media ought to shine a spotlight on.

He singled out the Kenya Television Network (KTN), Nation Media Group (NMG), and the Star for criticism for covering the case yet they did not cover the period when the two met, married and consummated their marriage.

"Media Houses: Citizen, KTN, NMG and Star are out of order. They didn’t inform us when Maryanne Kitany and Mithika Linturi met, married and consummated their marriage. Why must they publish their divorce proceedings? Don’t we have matters of public interest to be informed on?" the lawyer tweeted.

Kenyans on social media have been closely following the public divorce proceedings with keen interest, sharing their views on the salacious revelations.

Linturi maintains that he never married Kaitany, a former chief of staff at the Deputy President William Ruto's office.

Kitany told the court on Tuesday that the two were husband and wife.

They met at the DP's office, kicking off a love affair.
