A complaint by one of top aides of Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has exposed possible rift within Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement party.
Seth Odongo alias Dikembe Disembe, on Monday poked holes in what he called unfair treatment by the party to NASA Chief Executive Norman Magaya, who is struggling with his health.
Mr Odongo claimed that despite ODM leader Raila Odinga ordering party officials to clear Magaya's hospital bills, the order is yet to be effectived, several months down the lane.
"Some people were saying Mr Kawino (Finance Director) is the problem, or Charles Memba (Accountant); but I reject these insinuations. If the party leader made a pronouncement on Magaya, it is the ED to effect it. If not, that matter goes to the SG," he claimed.
ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong'wen has yet again been drawn to the fiasco, just few days after being accused of playing a major role in sacking of one Wafula Buke.
But in a tweet, Ong'wen denied claims that the ODM party has neglected Magaya, one of fierce defenders of Mr Odinga, especially during the disputed 2017 polls.
"DD this is not true. Norman Magaya gets a monthly stipend from ODM National Secretariat. Equivalent to what he was earning as NASA CEO. It’s important to verify facts," he said.
But in a sharp clash of opinions, Raila Odinga's aide Silas Jakakimba, faulted Mr Ong'wen's position, arguing that what Magaya needs is party support and not salary.
Last month, Magaya decried his dwindling finance fortunes, arguing that the heart attack he had suffered, has paralysed his financial stability.
"Great, Director. This is good to hear and set straight especially at a time the issue of Norman’s health has been a subject of online discussions informed by his own posts.
"Probably, and I may be wrong, DD is making reference not to the stipend but, a deliberate medical support," said Mr Jakakimba.
Mr Odongo claims that Magaya, who now sits at the Films and Classification Board, was poisoned at Bomas of Kenya during presidential election tallying.
