Former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe is yet to be buried weeks after a State Funeral.
Wrangles over his burial place still continued even after the government had announced that he will be buried at the National Heroes Acre in Harare, Zimbabwe.
However, his family members, led by Grace Mugabe were uncomfortable with the government's decision.
They have now been granted their wish of burying Mugabe at their home town.
According to the Zimbabwean Ministry of Information, the former leader will be buried at Zvimba, which is his hometown.
“The family has expressed its desire to proceed with the burial in Zvimba. In line with Government policy to respect the wishes of families of deceased heroes, Government is cooperating with the Mugabe family,” a statement from the Ministry of Information on September 26 reads as quoted by Citizen Digital.
His state funeral was attended by various state leaders including Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“The late Comrade Mugabe was an embodiment of the Pan-African spirit, offering immeasurable assistance and solidarity to many other African countries in their struggles to end colonial rule and apartheid,” Uhuru said during the funeral ceremony.
“As African leaders, we should continue to champion African interests as an enduring tribute to the late Comrade Mugabe and other departed icons of the African political and economic liberation struggle,” he added.
