With only a day remaining before the world begins a new decade, 2019 leaves us with special memories, especially in the world of art and entertainment.
For us from the lakeside, 2019 goes down as a year which brought with it some of the biggest songs, which will rake time to be forgotten.
Here are some of them:
Done by Freddy Jakodongo, one of the most successful Luo singers in 2019, this is a story of a man who has let go of his lover, thanks to successful interference from outsiders.
He blames the separation on people unhappy with their relationship, whom he says have succeeded in separating them by feeding his lover with false information about him.
His main message is 'dag e ngima miyiero' (live the life you have chosen), where he tells the woman to be contented with the life she is having with the man she left him for.
2. Kasinde.
Another very successful song in 2019, where Abenny Jachiga, the musician, accuses women of not being honest in relationships and having numerous lovers.
He says that the cheating is done under the guise of 'cousin', where the other lovers are being disguised as the woman's cousins when in real sense there is some romantic union.
He sings that others are using the same tag on their husbands, while with their lovers.
"En kata chuore kasinde, en ng'atang'ata kasinde (everybody is her cousin, even her husband is her cousin)," he says.
This is an enquiry of a man unsure whether his wife really loves him or is just enjoying his wealth and money before abandoning him.
Elisha Mtoto Wa Shule, the artist, seeks to know if the woman will be willing to stick to him to death and even bury him when the time comes or if she will abandon him.
He says that though women are different, and this habit can only be linked to a section, there is a need for his wife to classify herself in one of the two groups.
