In a tweet, Miguna said that his children woke him with songs and showers of love. The former Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant thanked his close family for the rare treat.

He, however, insisted that the walk to liberate Kenya from poor governance continues even as he turns a year old.

“Today is my birthday. My children woke me up early in the morning with songs and showers of love. I thank my immediate family and the extended Pan-Afrikan Family of Patriots, Freedom Fighters and Lovers of Justice and Equality. I recommit myself to the Struggle for Freedom. Amen,” he tweeted.

The special day comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta hinted that the deported lawyer has the freedom to come back to the country. Uhuru said that he has no problem with the lawyer or any other persons who criticises the government.

"I hear there are even some who want to board an aeroplane to come back and speak...We have no problem with that because that is their freedom. (Hata naskia kuna wengine wanataka kupanda ndege wakuje kuongea...na hatuna shida nayo kwa sababu hiyo ni hako yao)," said Uhuru on Monday on Murang'a.

Kenyans have since flooded him warm messages on his birthday.
