President Uhuru Kenyatta has once again called for political calm, at a time when the 2022 election debate seems to be getting the better part of most politicians.
Speaking on Saturday when he launched the revamped new Kenya Cooperative Creameries (KCC) factory in Dandora, Nairobi, the Head of State reiterated his warnings to those engaging in early campaigns, terming them a threat to his government's delivery plan.
He said the nation has no time for the 2022 debate, adding that the only thing politicians should be busy with is fully taking part in matters initiating development.
According to the President, his unity pact with opposition chief Raila Odinga has helped spur development in the country.
"We were in Eldoret and Nyahururu and are now in Nairobi for this project. We are doing this because of the unity we have achieved. People should focus on development, not sideshows," President Kenyatta said as quoted by Nation.
On his part, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko noted that his county will not play host to Tangatanga, Kieleweke political groupings.
"We have no time for groups talking about 2022. All we want is development," he said
Uhuru who has repeatedly made such appeals, especially to those in his Jubilee Party, last year launched a scathing attack on a section of them who have been politicking.
However, the group which is allied to Deputy President William Ruto under the team Tangatanga tag has continued campaigning for the DP's 2022 presidential ambitions.
