Midfielder Kenneth Muguna was on Friday named the new Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia team-captain, following the exit of former Gor defender Harun Shakava.

Shakava, who also served as the team's last man for the past five years, has since joined Zambian side Nkana Football Club.

Also vacant was the deputy captain position which was left empty following the departure of Rwandese striker Jacques Tuyisenge, who has joined Petro Athletico of Angola.

His position was on Friday handed over to defender Joash Onyango, who featured for national soccer team Harambee Stars in last month's African Cup of Nations (Afcon) games.

Muguna has received the slot only a year after rejoining the team from FK Tirana, which bought him from Gor earlier the same year. Before that, he was was a Western Stima player.

The team is at the same time boasting of a new coach; Stephen Pollack, who was unveiled on Thursday, following the resignation of Hassan Oktay on Tuesday.

The party is also basking in success, thanks to its three consecutive wins of the league tittle.

Before his exit, Oktay steered Kogallo to the CAF Champions League quarter-finals for the first time.
