Bomet County will officially have the third governor since the inception of Devolution on Thursday with Dr Hillary Barchok set to take over.
Dr Barchok, an educationist, is set to take over from Dr Joyce Laboso, who succumbed to cancer one week ago. She was buried on Saturday in Kisumu.
Kericho High Court Judge George Dullu will conduct the function, according to County Secretary Evalyne Rono.
Deputy President William Ruto, who is considered the kingpin of the region, is set to attend the ceremony, which is likely to attract emotions.
For Barchok, he promised to carry on with the legacy of Governor Laboso, adding that he will make water his main priority due to the late governor's committment.
Barchok will become the third governor to assume office after the death of original inhibitor. He was picked from Chuka University by Dr Laboso.
In Nyeri, Samuel Wamathai took over after the death of Nderitu Gachagua in 2016. The current governor Mutahi Kahiga took over from Wahome Gakuru.
Dr Laboso defeated Isaac Ruto in 2017. Article 182 of the constitution dictates that deputy governor takes over once the governor dies.
