Kenya National Union of Teachers Secretary General Wilson Sossion has dismissed a one-week ultimatum issued to him by the National Executive Council (NEC).
Sossion has reiterated that he is the bonafide union’s Secretary General as pressure mounts on him to leave office within a week.
The KNUT boss had alleged that he had no knowledge on the plot to terminate his contract with the union after the executive meeting.
He insisted that there was no commotion at his office as reported by several media houses in regard to the woes facing him.
The executive council had questioned his suitability to continue holding office after he welcomed his nomination by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) into parliament.
Sossion has affirmed that his nomination has not affected his delivery of duties to the union in any way. TSC has accused Sossion of failing to act with impartiality and loyalty on matters of politics.
The move to kick him out comes after the deregistration from TSC, which makes him illegible to remain in office as stated in the constitution.
“Persons eligible for membership of the union shall be only those who are or have been regularly and normally engaged as a teacher,” reads the constitution, as quoted by KBC
