Kiambu Woman Rep Gathoni wa Muchomba has weighed in on the botched swearing-in of Kiambu Deputy Governor James Karanja Nyoro as governor following the impeachment of Governor Ferdinand Waititu.
Speaking moments after the announcement, Wamuchomba claimed, without providing evidence, that High Court Judge John Onyiego refused to administer the oath because the impeachment process did not follow the due process.
According to the Woman Rep, Justice Onyiego insisted that the due process was not followed even after the Senate decided to uphold the decision of the Kiambu County Assembly Members to impeach Waititu.
"We are wondering even after the Senate made a decision to impeach Waititu the judge still keeps saying normal procedure haven't been followed," she said, in a video shared by Standard.
Wa Muchomba had accompanied other leaders to witness the swearing-in of the governor before they realized that the judge was nowhere to be seen.
The Woman Rep with other leaders including nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura was compelled to make their way to the Kiambu Law Courts to establish the reason behind the delay of the Judge to arrive for the function.
The Judiciary had announced that the swearing-in was not going to proceed as planned because of unavoidable reasons.
Waititu on Thursday moved to court to file an application challenging the Senate decision to uphold his impeachment.
