Before their marriage started hitting hard rocks, Meru Senator Mithika Linturi was a man who loved dearly hos wife Marianne Kitany, the court heard on Wednesday.
The two met in 2014 and their love blossomed before opting for a traditional marriage. They reportedly started staying together in 2015.
Last week, Kitany, a former Chief of Staff at DP William Ruto's office, dismissed claims by the vocal senator that they were not married. She insisted that they held a traditional wedding.
“For the sake of marriage and out of love, I chewed miraa (khat) for the first time as part of the Meru marriage rituals,” said Kitany.
“Even though he (Linturi) doesn’t like mursik ( fermented milk), he took it because it’s a requirement in Kalenjin tradition,” Kitany said, adding that Linturi’s parents did not attend the ceremony and she was informed that in Meru culture, if a man has another wife, the parents cannot attend.
The two are battling for control of multi-million properties which they reportedly acquired together. The senator insists that Ms Kitany was a stranger in his house.
Despite the challenges, Marianne Kitany on Wednesday tabled a poem purportedly authored by Linturi during one of her birthday.
She also accused the senator of denying her conjugal rights besides producing evidence that the senator had other extramarital affairs with unidentified women.
Here is the poem
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, And a video is worth a thousand pictures,So here is your thousand pictures.
Every time I set my eyes on you, a part of me softensYou are my love, you are my world, you are my everything.
With you, I grow and glow, With you, I survive and thrive, With you, I live and dive.Knowing that you will always be my side.
Each day I thank the Lord, for the angel he sent me, My angel is not up in the sky or out in the world.
They are right there with me, they are right there in my heart. That angel is you.
On this special day, I would like to wish you the best.
As I always do each and every day.
Happy Birthday My love,
