President Uhuru Kenyatta has congratulated United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson after his election win.
In a message on Twitter on Friday afternoon, the head of state hailed Johnson for the tremendous win.
''President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent a congratulatory message to Prime Minister @BorisJohnson and @Conservatives Party following a resounding victory win in the United Kingdom's General Election held yesterday,'' said State House.
The president took this chance to hail UK for the ''strong bilateral and historical ties between Kenya and the UK, and assured PM @BorisJohnson of his commitment to continue working closely with his Administration for the mutual benefit of the people of the two countries.''
Boris led the Conservatives to this historic win, which was the first one since Margaret Thatcher won a third term in 1987.
Johnson thanked those who voted for him and promised to deliver.
''Thank you to everyone across our great country who voted, who volunteered, who stood as candidates. We live in the greatest democracy in the world,'' said Boris Johnson.
He thanked citizen for entrusting him with the seat and noted that he will lead a "people's government" and fulfil the "sacred trust" placed in him.
Johnson noted that he will be doing all he can to earn the people's support in future again.
