Likoni Member of Parliament has called for unity among Kenyans.
Speaking to members of the press on Friday, the outspoken legislator contended that the country would only be in a position to move forward if the people unite.
She said that Team Embrace, a political grouping of women leaders in support of the Raila-Uhuru handshake, was in the coast to pursue an agenda of uniting the country.
"And our biggest agenda has to do with unity and development because we know that without unity there will be no development, when people are fighting there will be no development.
(Na sisi agenda yetu kubwa ni mambo ya amani na mambo ya maendeleo kwa sababu tunajua iwapo kutakuwa hakuna amani hata maendeleo pia hayawezi kufika. Iwapo kutakuwa na mvutano hata maendeleo hayawezi kufika), " the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MP said.
Team Embrace arrived in Kilifi on Friday ahead of rallies at the coast to drum up support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa, a member of the pro-DP Ruto Inua Mama group, has called on Kenyans to reject the agenda of Team Embrace.
Unlike Team Embrace who see the handshake as a bridge to a more united future, Inua Mama sees it as a ploy to create more positions for political leaders.
Veteran opposition and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has said that the BBI will help usher a country long plagued by political divisions into a much better future.
