A section of Nairobi MCAs are planning to impeach embattled speaker Beatrice Elachi again.
Elachi, who was impeached last year in September , returned to the assembly two weeks ago following a court order.
However, a motion has been signed by more than 67 ward reps who want to remove her again.
The MCAs, led by Majority whip Waithera Chege, held a press conference in Nairobi on Monday stating that they will throw her out again.
''We support the impeachment of Elachi," said Chege as quoted by the Star.
Since her return, there has not been a single assembly sitting. Chaos rocked her return forcing intervention of the police.
However, the MCAs are expected to have their first sitting on Tuesday. MCAs plotting her ouster assured that they will attended the sitting.
“We will be present for the plenary and also for the committee sittings and we shall continue with our mandate,“ they assured as quoted by the Star.
MCAs who want Elachi out have pointed an accusing finger at Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju.
Led by Waithaka MCA Antony Kiragu, the MCAs have vowed to take Elachi out again as they did last year.
“Last year September the house impeached her with 103 votes and we will take her down again,” he said as quoted by the Star.
According to MCAs, Utawala MCA Patrick Karani is the one tasked with present the notice of her impeachment motion in the assembly.
