If you are not on WhatsApp then social media is not your thing. Facebook-owned WhatsApp has made communicating with family friends cheaper and easier than before.
With the app installed on your smartphone, you can send photos to family friends and enjoy happy moments together, you share videos etc.
Another key thing WhatsApp can do is call making, be it video calls or voice calls, you only need internet connections, this has become common among Kenyans and even politicians for there is no call rates administered during these calls.
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is one of the politicians who use this app for calls, and for his case, he records the calls.
However, some people forget following WhatsApp set down rules, and make mistakes while using this amazing app.
Some mistakes include;
1. Forgetting to log out
You might be wondering how one can log out, people are of late using WhatsApp web, where you pin your WhatsApp on your computer so that you do not keep on checking your phone for messages, unfortunately people forget to log out even when the computer is shared, which allow the second person to access your chats.
2. Sending 'bad' photos and videos to other people, groups
Sometimes you might miss to click the right target and send your 'bad' pictures to the wrong recipient who might be tempted to send them to other people, this can harm you, for instance, if they are nudes, you can get arrested.
Some links are shared by hackers so that when clicked, they infect your phone with viruses that will render it vulnerable to attackers.
4. Message forwarding
This can lead to the spreading of fake news that can cause harm to other people, making you accountable for the damages.
5. Sharing personal information
The rule is very simple here, the internet never forgets, anything shared on it can stay for years, ensure what you share is not so personal that one can use against you, for example sharing your bank details or passwords, they can land in wrong hands.
