There was sorrow and tears on Thursday in Gatundu North, Kiambu County, after an old man hanged himself.
A 72 year old man at Mutaratara village in Gatundu South took his life by hanging himself in his house on Wednesday evening.
According to the area chief, it is not yet determined what triggered the old man to take his own life, because he (deceased) did not leave any message behind.
However, residents who knew the man said he had started acting abnormally in recent times.
The deceased man's family found the body hanging in his house on Thursday morning and informed the area chief, who later passed the information to police officers.
The deceased man's body was later taken to Kenyatta University mortuary. Police have started investigations to find out why the man decided to take his own life.
This is the second reported incident this year, after another man hanged himself in January at Maguguni in the neighbouring Thika sub-county, where one Ndirangu strangled his wife using an electrical cable at her house.
Investigations revealed that the two had a prolonged scuffle, before the man killed the wife and then hanged himself.
