A section of Jubilee Party supporters in Nakuru held peaceful demonstrations on Monday claiming the Nakuru’s party office had failed in its mandate of service to the members.
Addressing media at the Jubilee office in Nakuru, the members called for an overhaul of the county’s party leaders.
The protestors said the office had remained shut for seven months.
They went ahead to endorse former Nakuru TNA chairman Abdul Noor as the new chairman while Margaret Migongo was endorsed as the secretary.
Their actions follow the lapse of the 14-day ultimatum they had issued for the interim leadership to leave office and have elections conducted.
“We want the Jubilee office top leadership to step in and ensure whatever is ailing the office in Nakuru is addressed,” Noor said.
Noor said he is ready to serve Jubilee members in Nakuru.
“The office has remained shut for more than seven months now denying members the service they need. Personally, I am ready to serve and I am appealing to Mr Manyara to hand me the keys to the office so that we can start work” Noor said.
However, in a quick rejoinder, Nakuru Jubilee Party Interim chairman David Manyara refuted claims that the office was dormant.
According to Manyara, the faction opposing his leadership ‘do not know the system operates’.He said the Nakuru office opens on Tuesdays and Fridays.
“There is law and people should follow the law as far as party matters are concerned. The office in Nakuru is operational and we open it on Tuesdays and Fridays. We have tried to ensure the office is operational despite the challenges like right now we have debt rent,” said Manyara.
