Like most leaders in the country, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua's reign has not been a walk in the park.
Mutua has on several instances been on the spot for failed promises, launching white elephant projects and many more.
In these instances, he has been forced to deal with the situation but no matter how well he tries seems he can't gratify everyone.
In 2016, Mutua was bashed by Matungulu residents when he claimed the credit for natural springs.
Near Kyemule and Kwa Kiminza springs in Matungulu sub-county stood signposts of the Machakos County Government as evidence of the projects.
Led by Tala town based businessman, Charles Kilonzo, the locals told Mutua to man up and stop taking Machakos residents for a ride.
Kilonzo said those springs have been there for a long-time providing water to the residents and it was absurd for the county government to even attempt claiming credit for the same.
"Those springs have been there for ages and are God-given, Governor Mutua should stop playing foul and instead drill the boreholes he promised Machakos residents," Kilonzo said.
Despite criticism, Mutua was able to retain his seat which now hangs on the balance as he waits for the Supreme Court to decide his fate.
