Nairobi Governor Hon Mike Mbuvi Sonko has denied graft allegations leveled against him, the governor pleaded not guilty before the senior magistrate Douglas Magoti at Milimani law courts on Monday morning pleading not guilty.
He was dramatically arrested on Friday in Voi and airlifted to EACC offices after DPP Nordin Hajji ordered his arrest, Sonko spent 3 nights in police cells and was on Monday brought before the court.
Among those who appeared for the governor in Milimani courts as his defense on Monday include the majority leader of the Senate Hon Kipchumba Murkomen, his lawyer for a long time Hon. Dan Manzo and Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior and lawyer Nelson Havi.
According to Sonko's lawyer, the arrest is more of a political witch hunt, even so, the prosecution in its part has opposed bail for the accused.
"He was cleared by EACC to run for MP seat, senate seat and governor's seat on 2017 ," sonko's lawyer said.
The controversial Governor and his co-accused are waiting for a bail hearing at 2:30 pm.
