This might signal a new start to a month-long stand-off between the state and gaming companies that started on July 11.

According to Nation Sport, Mozzart Bet will resume operations under operating license number 000135 and Paybill number 290059.

The Interior ministry moved to control the sector alleging that it was ruining the future of Kenyan youth.

Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i had lamented that betting was promoting laziness.

“There is no nation on earth that has ever developed simply because its people concentrated in gambling. This one must be discouraged at all cost so that we can set a good foundation for our future,” CS Matiang'i said in July as quoted by the Standard.

On his part, President Uhuru Kenyatta said that all betting firms must pay taxes. He warned them against threatening the government and directed them to invest in various sectors that benefit Kenyans.

"The (betting) firms should stop threats that they will move to court. The government must get its share to fund activities that are beneficial to this country," Uhuru said on July 13.

SportPesa and Betin Kenya are among other companies whose licenses were withdrawn.
