ODM leader Raila Odinga, Amani National Congress Leader Musalia Mudavadi and their Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula were treated to a rousing welcome when they arrived at the Bukhungu Stadium on Saturday for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meeting.
Odinga, who was welcomed by the area Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, arrived earlier than Mudavadi and Wetangula. The three were cheered as they made their way into the stadium.
At some point, there was confusion at the podium and the organisers of the event were seen asking some of the guests to move so that they could pave way for the leaders to sit.
Mudavadi and Wetangula had threatened not to attend the meeting. The duo later changed their minds days to the meeting.
“I can confirm the two leaders will be here, as you can see there are seats reserved for both Wetang'ula and Mudavadi,” read a statement from Ford Kenya
The meeting comes in the backdrop of opposition from Deputy President William Ruto’s camp. Ruto has termed the tours to popularise the report a waste of time and money.
“What are all these campaigns for? Who do they want to persuade? Is it a way of misusing government resources?” Ruto asked.
His allies had organised a parallel rally but their permit was revoked.
