Professor Judith Atyang' Miguda was on Tuesday sworn in as Kisumu County’s Executive Committee Member (CeC) for Health and Sanitation.

She was sworn in at Kisumu City Hall Grounds, alongside Kisumu County Attorney Victor Obondi.

The oath was administered to the two by Chief Magistrate Julius Ng’arNg’ar of the Kisumu law courts.

Professor Atyang’ takes over the health docket from Rosemary Obara, who was shown the door in May over alleged non performance.

"This is Persuant to powers conferred by Article 179 of the Constitution and sections in the County Government Act and for furtherance of quality health service delivery and management," read statement by the county during Professor Miguda’s nomination for the post in May.

The swearing in ceremony was witnessed by Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o and his deputy Mathew Owili among other leaders from the County.

“I encouraged the new appointees to put their best foot forward in their new roles for the benefit of Kisumu County citizens,” said the governor.

He said the county government of Kisumu is aware of the plight of the local traders within the town, and plans are underway to create better environment for their business to thrive with better city planning in place.
