A couple on Friday appeared before a court, with the wife accusing the husband of assaulting her after she allegedly caught him in the act with another woman.
The woman, Penina Muthoni Maina, said that her husband, Dominic Komen, assaulted her at their home in Murandi in Embakasi Sub-County on the night of November 12.
She told Senior Principal Magistrate Angelo Kithinji that being a taxi driver, she was at work on that night, and expected that Komen too would be away on a night shift.
The magistrate heard that she came back to find Komen had locked the door from inside, and on peeping through the window, saw him in bed with the other woman.
This, she told the court, was after Komen refused to open, and would later come out, slap and strangulate her after she demanded to take her personal belongings.
“When I insisted that I wanted to personally pack my belonging, he came out and physically assaulted me,” she told the court, claiming that she was slapped severally in the face.
The complainant, who suffered neck and face injuries, said that neighbours showed up and intervened, thwarting her husband's attempts to push her down the stairs.
The suspect denied the charges and was released on a Sh20,000 cash bail, with the case set to be heard again on March 17, next year.
